Jesus
the Homosexual?
“For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way. And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:” Second Thessalonians 2:7-8 KJV
I am amazed that many people in teaching on this passage say that the one who will be taken out of the way will be the church, raptured before the Tribulation begins. It makes sense really, according to the doctrine, but we have a little problem. It says plainly that “he” will be taken out of the way (and this is in quite a few translations).
Already you should be able to see the problem. Jesus is a male, the church is His bride, which means the church should be referred to as “she”, not “he”. Let us prove this according to scripture, however:
“And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb's wife.” Revelation 21:9 KJV
“Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.” Matthew 25:1 KJV
“Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.” Revelation 19:7-8 KJV
“For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.” Second Corinthians 11:2 KJV
Okay, so we’re pretty well established that Jesus is the male in this Heavenly marriage, and the church is the female part of it. How then can anyone possibly say that “he” is the church, taken out of the way? To do so is to say that Jesus is a homosexual, the male bridegroom with His male bride.
This ought not to be so. We need to find another “he” to fit this
passage. Argument can be made for the
Holy Spirit, or an angel, or something, but not the female church.
