It Would Blow My Mind
We’ll have the rare light subject here for a short time. The past couple days I have contemplated what it must be like for a sinner to hear about the God who sent His Son to die. I’ve known the things of God far too long to remember what something like that would feel like, but I’ve tried to think with the natural mind about this.
Think about it. You’ve just been told that there is a God and He loves you so much that He sent His Son to die for you. Willingly. And the Son was fine with it too, He went willingly. How would that sound if your idea of a parent is the average American?
Let’s see, sending your kid out knowing 100% that they’re going to die? That’s insanity, or at the very least an unfit parent. Take the kid away from them; they don’t deserve to be a parent. Sending them to war is better than this! At least they might live as they defend their country, and it would be an honorable death.
Look at the other gods here that people serve! They don’t die for people, they make demands!
But to die in the place of someone who didn’t deserve it? On purpose? This God must be flat out crazy to have sent His Son.
But that’s love. When you understand the love it’s no longer crazy, insane, or bad parenting. It suddenly makes sense; it’s a sacrifice that is good enough for the worst sinner if he accepts it.
Yes, there are demands here too. You must love God back, and love others, for all the law and prophets hang on these two things. But when you love, the rest is cake. You won’t do wrong to your brother when you love him, so when God says not to do wrong to your brother, you’re already there.
So why can’t the natural mind understand? It’s because of blindness, and it comes from our adversary:
“3: But if our gospel be hid, it
is hid to them that are lost:
4: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which
believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image
of God, should shine unto them.” Second Corinthians 4:4 KJV
There are so many right now that have been blinded by Satan, it keeps the light of the Gospel out, for the natural mind cannot understand this amazing thing:
The God who loved enough to send His Son.
